Who is the instructor?

Mathias Van Den Broeck

Osteopath D.O. / MSc. Ost. / Physiotherapist MSc.

My name is Mathias Van Den Broeck, I achieved my master’s degree in physical therapy at the Belgian University of Leuven in 2017 and afterwards I also achieved my master’s degree in osteopathy at Buckinghamshire New University. As a physiotherapist I've worked for a couple of years in Belgium where I have my own practice, REVAR. Since 2022 I mainly work as an osteopath, but I want to share with you the things I've learned as a physiotherapist in previous years.

What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a holistic approach, in which the musculoskeletal system, organs, the skull bones and other tissues in the body are manually examined and treated. The cooperation of all these systems is mapped out in order to treat the cause, instead of the symptoms. This is done primarily through manual techniques and targeted advice. Osteopathy emphasizes the relationship between the different structures and functions of the body, thus stimulating the body's natural ability to heal itself by improving the circulation of the different body fluids (blood, lymph, cerebrospinal fluid). You can come to REVAR for osteopathy for athletes, non-athletes and babies alike. Mathias takes 'evidence based practice' very seriously. We always work from a thorough anatomical, neurological, biomechanical and physiological knowledge, in order to approach the patient in a well-founded way. More information about osteopathy can be found here. Often home exercises are given to maintain the gained mobility.

What is physiotherapy?

For a variety of physical conditions, physical therapy offers comprehensive treatment options. In general, physical therapy means "recovering by moving." This can be done in an active way by targeted exercises, or in a passive way by manual techniques performed by a therapist. In our practice we are active in sports physical therapy (sports rehabilitation) as well as manual therapy. But also post-operative rehabilitation is part of the classical physical therapy.
